The music will go on, thanks to local Yardley residents Suzanne Foster, her husband, Tim and son, William. On Saturday, January 20th they presented a check for $4,000 to the Newtown Chamber Orchestra (NCO) at their Soloist on Stage Concert. The donation was part of their ongoing philanthropy toward the NCO.
The Fosters have been active concert attendees and supporters since the Orchestra’s inception. Suzanne Foster had the privilege of guest-conducting the Orchestra’s performance of Mozart’s Overture to the Marriage of Figaro as part of a previous fundraising event. Their son, William is an accomplished clarinet player with his middle school band at Princeton Day School in New Jersey and is also studying piano. The couple owns and operates T. Foster & Co, Fine Jewelry in Yardley’s historic district.
Russell Hoffmann, DMA, Music Director/Conductor expressed gratitude on behalf of the entire Newtown Chamber Orchestra organization:”We are humbled and thrilled by the generosity of the Foster family and hope that others will follow their lead. The NCO is a non-profit organization comprised of professional musicians offering classical music repertoire. Part of our mission is to partner with neighboring school districts to educate and nurture children in the living arts by providing free family classical concerts, in-school performances, and recognition of young musicians in the community. Anyone who wishes to support the Orchestra’s mission can donate at https://tinyurl.com/donatetonco. No amount is too small.”
Kids Connect to the Classics Concert is a free family concert which will be performed on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at the Richboro Middle school.
The concert, “Peter and the Wolf” is suitable for elementary age children and their families and includes interactive audience participation; and a hands-on opportunity to touch and explore various instruments through a musical “petting zoo”. The intent is to stimulate and nurture the enjoyment of classical music through a fun and nurturing educational experience. .
