Ukrainian Folk Festival and Outdoor Summer Concert

Celebrate the enduring, vibrant culture of a people that fights for freedom! Celebrate The Ukrainian American Sport Center’s 75th Anniversary! ($2 of each paid admission donated to Humanitarian Relief of Victims of War in Ukraine) Exciting, spectacular, dazzling, breathtaking, exhilarating, spirited, soulful, enchanting, captivating, and intriguing – modest words which describe but by no means capture the essence of Ukrainian folk art, music, song and dance. From the rich color and deep symbolism of the delicate “pysanka” (Ukrainian Easter Egg) to the thunderous, power, rhythm and strength of “HOPAK” – the world’s most exciting ethnic dance, and every brilliant “Kolomiyka” (polka) and soulful folk song in between, experience the UKRAINIAN FOLK FESTIVAL 2025, celebrating the 34th anniversary of our ancestral homeland’s independence. Enjoy an outdoor summer stage concert and show (1:30 to 4:30 PM), live orchestra music (4:30 – 8:00 PM), traditional Ukrainian foods and baked goods, BBQ pit, standard picnic fare, vendors grove, arts and crafts displays and bazaar, cool refreshments, Live exhibitors of Ukrainian history and Ukrainian hospitality. The inspiration for the blockbuster film, “You’ve Got Mail!” Amalia and Georg, two clerks in a 1930s perfumery, are constantly at odds. They both find joy, however, in the romantic letters exchanged with anonymous pen pals they discovered through a “lonely hearts ad.” Little do they know, they are actually writing to each other! Based on the classic film “The Shop Around the Corner,” She Loves Me is a delightful musical that celebrates one of the most enchanting love stories ever told.

With a nod to the past and a wink to the future from behind their sunglasses, Baltimore's The Dirty Grass Players have been pushing the leading edge of bluegrass music since 2015. As convincing on a 10-minute jam as they are on a 2-minute classic, they find an intersection between progress and tradition that in one set could inspire Flatt & Scruggs to reunite and then break up all over again. With harmonies to please any purist, compositions fresh enough to have been written tomorrow, and improvisations that fearlessly stride to the end of every limb, this band can play as clean as anybody but isn't afraid to get a little dirty.
