Sunday December 14, 2025
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Each December, thousands of people gather on the banks of the Delaware River to watch the reenactment of George Washington’s daring 1776 Christmas night river crossing. During the event, several hundred reenactors in Continental military dress listen to an inspiring speech by General Washington and then row across the river in replica Durham boats.

Come out for the First Crossing on Sunday, December 14th, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM (actual crossing at 1:00 PM). This is not a dress rehearsal, but rather a fundraising event. Beyond witnessing the historical reenactment, visitors can immerse themselves in the Colonial Era for the day. During this event, families are invited to participate in a range of activities.

Fourth Annual "Washington's Landing in New Jersey", Washington Crossing State Park

Sunday December 14, 2025
11:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Images of Washington crossing the Delaware on Christmas night in 1776 are deeply ingrained in the American imagination — so much so that Pennsylvania's annual reenactments draw thousands of spectators. But what many don't realize is that after that daring Crossing, New Jersey witnessed more Revolutionary War battles and skirmishes than any other colony. On December 14, from 11 am to 3:30 pm, Washington Crossing State Park in Titusville, NJ will welcome Washington's troops and discover what unfolded after they made landfall on New Jersey soil. New Jersey's "Washington's Landing in New Jersey" event is distinct from — yet coordinated with — the "First Crossing" presented by the Friends of Washington Crossing Historic Park in Pennsylvania.
