Bucks County's Household Hazardous Waste Program will hold its first collection of the year on Saturday, April 4. This is the time for residents to get rid of items they can't throw away in the regular trash, including cleaning chemicals, vehicle batteries, pesticides, and flammable items. Bring up to 25 gallons or 220 pounds of hazardous waste to the Newtown campus of Bucks County Community College on Saturday, April 4. The event is from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the college, 275 Swamp Road in Newtown Township. Click here for more information

Phillip’s Mill Juried Art Show Signature Image Competition Submissions Accepted April 1 – 21 - Artists are invited to submit their vision of Phillips' Mill for consideration in the search for this year's signature image of the annual juried art show. Old Barracks Museum Announces Youth Art Contest Celebrating America's 250th Anniversary - The Old Barracks Museum is calling all young artists to showcase their creativity in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States! Students under eighteen years of age are invited to participate in our very first youth art contest to commemorate this historic moment. Parents or guardians must complete the required submission paperwork, which can be found at barracks.org/old-barracks-youth-art-contest/. All submitted artwork will be proudly displayed at the Old Barracks Museum beginning on Trenton Barracks Founders Day on June 13th through July 4th. Submission deadline: May 29.

2026 Wildflower Sale Weekends at Churchville Nature Center - Join us for the kickoff of our sale of beautiful, native perennials and stellar annuals! This year's kickoff weekends will be Saturday and Sunday, April 25th & 26th, and May 2nd & 3rd. The sale takes place from 10 AM - 5 PM. During the first two weekends of the sale, staff and volunteers will be on hand to help select the perfect plants for your garden. 28th Annual FOHCL Book Sale - Just in time for spring house cleaning, the Friends of the Hunterdon County Library (FOHCL) is gearing up for its 28th annual book sale, set to run from April 25-27. We are all excited to report to our community on two things: donations for the sale, volunteering opportunities, and scheduling. We will have two book drives this year. Both are on Saturday: April 11 and April 18. The book drives will take place at the Grange Building (same place as in previous years) in the South County Park Fairgrounds, which is on Route 179, Lambertville, NJ, 08530. They will both run from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, rain or shine. The week after the second book drive, the main sale starts: Saturday, April 25 (10 am-5 pm), and Sunday, April 26 (10 am-3 pm), when everything is 50% off! As always, we will be offering books on almost any conceivable subject, most for $2 each (for hardcovers), and a special collections boutique with individually priced rarities or unusual volumes. On Monday, April 27, we will have a bag sale (we’ll provide the bags) from 9 am to 2 pm. Chicago native, guitarist and vocalist Nick Moss and New Jersey native, harmonica player and vocalist Dennis Gruenling – together with Rodrigo Mantovani on bass, Taylor Streiff on keyboards and Pierce Downer on drums – deliver a deeply rooted, timeless blue collar blues album. According to Moss, “We are a rare breed as far as how authentic we like to keep the music." 4/9 - Getting Graphic with History: The Life and Times of Jimmy Brown, Heritage
ZOOM, 7:30pm. Take a journey with author Amy Hollander to explore her recent graphic novel, Low Bridge, Everybody Down, which shares the real-life experiences of Jimmy Brown, a black canal boat captain on the Delaware and Lehigh Canal in the early 1900s. Learn how Hollander crafted the story by combining Jimmy's oral histories within the framework of local, regional, and national events, and how she interwove her narrative with the vibrant art of Will Rosado to create a dynamic interplay of word and image — one that will engage the next generation of young readers with the diverse history of the Delaware and Lehigh Canal system. 4/11 - Monthly Living History Programs: Soldier Saturdays, Washington Crossing Park. 11-3pm. Join us each month as historical interpreters and reenactors bring a piece of history to life at Washington Crossing Historic Park. 4/11 - Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey Presents Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, 7:30pm.,The Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey will present its Spring Concert at the War Memorial Ballroom in Trenton, led by Music Director finalist Kyle Ritenauer. The program pairs evocative orchestral miniatures with one of the great Romantic symphonies and offers audiences a full evening of music, visual art, and educational programming. Designed as an immersive cultural experience, the evening invites audiences to engage with the music in multiple ways while enjoying a vibrant gathering of the arts in the historic War Memorial. 4/19 - Annual Spring Concert, The Nakashima Foundation, 1:30-4pm., The Nakashima Foundation for Peace invites guests to celebrate the beauty of cherry blossom season during its annual Spring Peace Concert on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 1:30 to 4:00 PM at the Nakashima Arts Building, 1847 Aquetong Road in New Hope, PA. Inspired by the Japanese tradition of ohanami—the appreciation of blossoms—the event blends music, mindfulness, and community in a serene natural setting surrounded by blooming cherry and dogwood trees. The award-winning Resident Artists of Philadelphia’s world-renowned Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) returns to the Museum for a spectacular afternoon of opera and song. This concert will feature classical and near-classical repertoire by international talent with a program to include selections from opera, operetta, and classic Broadway. The Academy of Vocal Arts is widely considered the premiere training program for young opera singers and is completely tuition-free – supported by annual contributions, ticket sales and endowment.
