Thompson Organization Annual Draw of the Future - We're thrilled to announce the return of Thompson's Draw the Future Contest, a beloved annual tradition celebrating young artists and their visions of the future! For over 30 years, this competition has inspired creativity among students from Kindergarten through 6th grade, challenging them to design futuristic vehicles—whether eco-friendly, high-tech, or out-of-this-world. The Old Barracks Museum invites you to join us in recreating the triumphal Washington's Flower Arch by adding a flower of your own! Your generous donation will help to create a temporary Washington Flower Arch for the grand opening of the new exhibits on July 4th, 2026. The museum's original historic arch will also be on display that day for the first time in decades. Donations of $25 will allow you to add a personalized dyed wood flower to the recreated arch. Donations of $250 will include the flower plus an invitation to an exclusive preview of the new exhibits on June 23rd. Those who donate $2,500 will receive all of the aforementioned benefits and will also receive donor recognition on the entrance screen of the Old Barracks Museum.The recreated arch will be unveiled on July 4th during the Semiquincentennial celebrations at the Old Barracks. Neal Schon is a 3x Hall of Fame inductee, having been inducted to the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Grammy Hall of Fame. Jon Cain is a recipient of two BMI songwriter awards and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Journey.

3/6 - Grundy Annual Art Show Opening Reception, 6-8pm. Talented students from Bristol High School and Harry S. Truman High School are joining forces with the Artists of Bristol on the Delaware (AOB) for the annual Celebrate Art! exhibit at the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library, 680 Radcliffe Street. The public is invited to celebrate the exhibit's opening with a reception on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 6 -8 p.m.; the exhibit continues through April 2, 2026. Throughout the duration of the exhibit, the public is encouraged to cast votes for the People's Choice Award for both the student and AOB categories. 3/8 - Pennsbury Manor’s Charter Day, 1-4pm. Join us in celebrating Pennsylvania’s birthday at the home of its founder, William Penn! Take a tour of the Manor House, observe colonial craftspeople as they demonstrate the art of blacksmithing, woodworking and spinning, watch history come to life with a performance by our Living History Theater troupe, and visit with the animals. And, meet other local history organizations to learn more about their plans for America’s 250th. This event is FREE to the public. 3/8 - The Other Crossings, Yardley Historical Association, 2pm. The Old Library by Lake Afton. Author and historian William (Larry) Kidder will present an enlightening program about the almost daily river crossings by General George Washington's troops during the month leading up to the famous crossing and several crossings after the Battle of Trenton. Local militia troops stationed in the Yardley area played a large role in these crossings as did the Yardley ferry. The expanded story will allow a better understanding of what made the Christmas crossing so important and the victory at Trenton possible. No reservations are needed for this program. Seating will be on a first come basis.

3/8 -Delaware Valley Wind Symphony Presents: Music from the Small Screen, 4pm. Did you know a wisecracking rabbit may be responsible for your refined taste in classical music? Long before streaming services, Saturday mornings belonged to Bugs Bunny and the glorious symphonic soundtracks of Warner Bros. cartoons. While we laughed at rabbits and hunters, we were getting a sneaky introduction to orchestral masterworks. On Sunday, March 8, the Delaware Valley Wind Symphony presents “Music from the Small Screen,” celebrating the unforgettable themes of television and cartoons. Enjoy the whirlwind music of Bugs Bunny and friends, the gallop of The Lone Ranger, and the mysterious opening of the TV series, Alfred Hitchcock Presents. 3/10 - Meet Hannah Penn: Pennsylvania's First Lady of the Commonwealth, 2:30pm. Join us for an engaging one-hour presentation brought to life by reenactor Ann D’Silva of Gather Place Museum, as she steps into the role of Hannah Penn—a woman whose steady leadership quietly shaped early America. After the death of her husband, William Penn, Hannah Penn governed the colony of Pennsylvania, championing religious tolerance, diplomacy, and community-centered leadership during a pivotal moment in history. 3/10 – Newtown Bookshop’s Monthly Page to Screen Series @Newtown Theatre, 7:30pm. Movie: Hidden Figures. Three brilliant African American women at NASA – Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson – play vital roles in launching astronaut John Glenn into orbit. Their perseverance and intelligence shatter racial and gender barriers during the height of the Space Race. Our monthly Page to Screen series is a partnership between the Newtown Theatre and the Newtown Bookshop. Each film in the series is based on a bestselling or beloved book. 3/11 - Mick's Company: An Afternoon of Irish Music & Humor, Newtown Theatre, 3pm. Founded more than two decades ago, Mick’s Company is Philadelphia’s most fun Irish band. Concertgoers will enjoy an afternoon of all their favorite Irish songs and humor. This show played to a packed house as part of the Mt. Gretna (PA) Summer Concert Series.

3/11 - Heritage Lecture: Lydia Darragh, A Heroine of the American Revolution, 7:30pm. Join Delaware River Greenway Partnership on March 11 at 7:30 PM via Zoom as Robert N. Fanelli presents “Lydia Darragh, A Heroine of the American Revolution.” Who is Lydia Darragh? She is famed for eavesdropping on British General William Howe’s staff as they planned a surprise attack, then sneaking through the lines to give warning to American soldiers. Her actions are said to have saved George Washington’s army from a devastating ambush as it lay starving and freezing on the barren hills of Whitemarsh at the end of 1777. 3/16 - Curtis Chamber Orchestra Concert, Glencairn Museum, 7pm. Glencairn Museum is honored to welcome the Curtis Chamber Orchestra for a special performance, celebrating the historic ties between the two institutions. This concert is part of Curtis on Tour, the Nina von Maltzahn global touring initiative of the Curtis Institute of Music. This dynamic, conductor-less ensemble of Curtis Institute of Music’s most talented students is led from the first chair by Minnesota Orchestra concertmaster and Curtis violin faculty Erin Keefe. The Doylestown Bookshop is partnering with The Doylestown Historical Society in 2026 to offer six storytelling events as a part of their USA250 events for children featuring books about the American Revolution and a craft. 3/28 - Apple Basket with Twill Pattern Workshop - Tyler Park Center for the Arts, 9:30-3:30pm. The classic 10″ Shaker Cathead Basket was one of the most popular made by the Shakers. Its name derives from the fact that when it is held upside down, its shape resembles a cat’s head – the corners being the ears. Although the original design was borrowed from the Native American baskets, it was refined by the Shakers. Students can weave it plain or with a diagonal line through it (Twill pattern).
