Bucks County's Biggest Weekend On September 6–7, downtown Doylestown transforms into a vibrant celebration of art and music. Featuring 150+ juried artists, five stages of live music, and interactive art demos, the Doylestown Arts Festival showcases the region’s creative spirit. Free to attend. ‘She Loves Me’ @Bucks County Playhouse

Amalia and Georg, two clerks in a 1930s perfumery, are constantly at odds. They both find joy, however, in the romantic letters exchanged with anonymous pen pals they discovered through a “lonely hearts ad.” Little do they know, they are actually writing to each other! Based on the classic film “The Shop Around the Corner,” She Loves Me is a delightful musical that celebrates one of the most enchanting love stories ever told. (Note the early start on Friday, September 5. 8/7 - Art After Dark: Sunsets & Summer Nights, Michener Art Museum, 5-8pm., Come out for Art After Dark in August and celebrate the end of summer, featuring live music by Sug Daniels! See the full evening’s schedule below. 5:30–7:45 p.m. / Enjoy live music outside in the Patricia D. Pfundt Sculpture Garden, featuring Sug Daniels. Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter, storyteller, and producer, Sug Daniels uses the tools around her to capture the emotions of an era. She thoughtfully combines elements of folk, rock, and soul alternatives to create personal and tender music interlaced with messages of truth and positive change. The New Hope Automobile Show features the finest in classic and antique, foreign and domestic vehicles. This year we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Volkswagen Bus. 8/16 - Outwater’s Militia Encampment (Reenactment), Washington Crossing State Park, 10-4pm Outwater’s Militia (A reenactment group, portraying a Revolutionary War militia unit) will be encamped at Washington Crossing State Park, New Jersey, on Saturday, August 16th. Come and see the men of Outwater’s Militia join together and drill in preparation for action against his majesty’s troops. Stroll through the encampment when the men are not drilling and learn about the life and times of the Revolutionary War. The event will occur between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. The Visitor Center Museum will be open from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. featuring The Swan Historical Foundation’s Collection of 500+ Colonial and Revolutionary War artifacts.

8/16 - Sourland Mountain Festival, 3-8:30pm. The public is invited to join the fun as the Sourland Mountain Festival returns on Saturday, August 16th. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Festival promises an unforgettable summer celebration of live music, local flavors, and community spirit — rain or shine — from 3:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the beautiful Unionville Vineyard in Hunterdon County. Organizers are encouraging the community to purchase tickets early as they expect the event to sell out before the big day. Visitors making their way to the vineyard will travel along the winding, picturesque roads of the Sourland region before arriving at Unionville Vineyards' iconic ruby-red barn—a fitting backdrop for a day that blends natural beauty, community spirit, and creative energy. Join us for a conversation with celebrated Bucks County painter and printmaker Dean Thomas, who is known for his hand-painted drypoint engravings, color woodcuts and vibrant oil landscapes. A Juried Art Show exhibitor at Phillips' Mill since 2009, Dean has earned multiple awards and accolades for his original color palette and refreshing compositions. His work has been shown at the Michener Art Museum and beyond, and he is represented by the Chapman Gallery in Doylestown. Dean led a sold-out Color Reduction Printmaking Workshop at the Mill in 2023.

8/22 - Barracks Baseball Night at Trenton Thunder Ballpark, 7pm. On Friday, August 22nd, friends and supporters of the Old Barracks will gather at the picnic section to enjoy a baseball game and all-you-can-eat buffet. This event promises not only a night of thrilling sports action but also a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow community members!

8/23 - NJ & PA Washington Crossing Riverbank Cleanup, 10 - 12:30pm. Join our neighbors at the Washington Crossing Park Association (NJ) and The Friends of Washington Crossing Park (PA) for the annual Washington Crossing Riverbank Cleanup. This year’s event takes place on the New Jersey side—meet at the Nelson House on River Drive, the white house directly across the bridge. Volunteers will help clear debris from the Delaware’s edge in preparation for the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Crossing. Gloves and bug spray will be provided!
Whether you choose to wade along the banks or stay dry on land, this is a great way to give back to the parks we all love. Volunteers must be 18 or older (or 16+ with a parent), and should wear sturdy shoes and clothes that can get dirty. The event will run rain or shine (except in severe weather). Let’s work together to keep this historic landscape clean and beautiful!

8/23 - Songs and Stories of the American Revolution Performed by Matthew Dodd, 2pm., Dressed in colonial clothing and performing rousing period songs and stories, Matthew Dodd will take you back in time to the days of the American Revolution. Mr. Dodd sings and plays the guitar, banjo, mandolin and recorder throughout the show. The outdoor performance will take place at 2 PM at Sullivan’s Grove next to the Visitor Center Museum at Washington Crossing State Park in Titusville, New Jersey. 8/24 - The Dirty Grass Players Bluegrass Band & Long Acre Hollow, Zlock Performing Arts Center, 3pm. With a nod to the past and a wink to the future from behind their sunglasses, Baltimore's The Dirty Grass Players have been pushing the leading edge of bluegrass music since 2015. As convincing on a 10-minute jam as they are on a 2-minute classic, they find an intersection between progress and tradition that in one set could inspire Flatt & Scruggs to reunite and then break up all over again. With harmonies to please any purist, compositions fresh enough to have been written tomorrow, and improvisations that fearlessly stride to the end of every limb, this band can play as clean as anybody but isn't afraid to get a little dirty.
