BCCC’s Annual Bucks County Poet Laureate Competition
The Bucks County Poet Laureate Program is seeking the 2024 Laureate. The postmark deadline for submission to the competition is Friday, September 13, 2024.
The winner of the competition will receive a $500 honorarium, a plaque from the Bucks County Commissioners, and a reading at Bucks County Community College in the fall with the previous year’s laureate, Tara Tamburello.
Entrants to the competition must be Bucks County residents and 18 years or older. Poetry of any kind is welcome. The entry requires 10 poems, any style, form, or length. All work must be original, published or unpublished, typewritten or word-processed, one poem per page, in black ink. Poems and entry form must be submitted online at bucks.edu/poetlaureateentry

Join us for an afternoon of chemistry and creativity! Cyanotype is a basic photographic process that uses the sun’s UV rays to create shadowy silhouettes against a vibrant blue background. Participants will scavenger for printing materials, or bring your own flat items to experiment with (flattened botanicals, lace, feathers or stencils). For 66 years, some of the finest antique and classic automobiles in the country have made their way to New Hope, Pennsylvania and the New Hope Automobile Show has drawn up to 10,000 people over the two-day show, all looking to see and appreciate the design and technology of automobile manufacturers from all over the world.
Saturday is our Domestic day. In addition to our regular domestic classes, you’ll see Rods, including Hot, Rat, Street, Restomods, and Custom. Saturday will also have a class for Replicars, as well as a Display Only class for those vehicles who don’t fit our other classes. Sunday is our Foreign day.

You will learn about the functions these mushrooms serve within their ecosystem, the types of environments they inhabit and their effect on the human body. Join us for a series of Free Weekly Living History programs that we will be conducting in the Thompson Neely Farmstead.
Reenactors and demonstrators will discuss the topic/activity they are portraying while also providing context for how this would affect life during the American Revolution.
The demonstrations will take place at 12:00pm, 1:00pm and 2:00pm.

This fun class engages all five of your child’s senses: Touch, Sound, Sight, Smell and Taste. Guided by our Master Gardener, Kelly, both kids and adults alike will enjoy a myriad of different textures, scents and tastes of plants. Join us in our educational garden as you learn how various plants offer the art of discovery with amazing aromas, fascinating textures, beautiful colors, interesting shapes, yummy tastes and unique sounds. Stand in our garden as you are invited to taste organically grown fresh vegetables and herbs. This 10:00am - 11:30am class will be a wonderful time for your children to breathe fresh air and sunshine, all while stimulating their minds. $20.

A pairing experience with a twist! Get bready for the latest craze in food and wine pairing. You’ll be guided through a sampling of handcrafted sweet & savory pretzel nuggets from OMG! Pretzels in Plymouth Meeting along with tastings of Crossing Vineyards’ award-winning wines.
Includes instruction, wine and assorted pretzel bites. It’ll bake you happy. We are knot kidding. $40 per person at 1pm.

8/31 - Snipes Farm Market
Come to the Big Red Barn on Snipes Farm to buy our organic produce, plants, and other products every Saturday from 9am to 1pm. Visit our animals: chickens, ducks, goats, bunnies and more! Our vegetables are certified organic, which means we use no GMO, synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. We also carry local honey made by the bees here at Snipes Farm bee hives. We have pure maple syrup from Journey's End farm, fruit butters, and whatever seasonal herbs are being harvested.
We also have CBD products made from hemp organically grown on Snipes Farm and herbal products from Heart of the Moon Herbs grown by our very own herbalist.
