Sunflower Festival at Shady Brook Farm
Join us for our SUNFLOWER FESTIVAL August 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th. We’ll have the TONS of amazing activities we typically have in our festival field, plus Live Music on the big stage, and some animals the kids can see like sheep, Llamas and even a Camel.
You can cut your own sunflowers to take home (priced by the stem or by the container), or just get lost in our field of sunny sunflowers! There are plenty of photo opportunities for you and your friends and family. Food and drinks are available.

LMT Parks and Rec Special Summer Events

This race benefits the Parks directly. Lower Makefield Township has been working together with the Disability Advisory Committee and the Lower Makefield Township Community Fund to make all the Township Parks up to date and accessible for users.

This is our biggest Community Event of the year! The Day is full of activity and includes vendors, community groups, Live Music, a 3v3 basketball tournament, food trucks, rides and games.
-September 18, 2022 19th Annual 9/11 Garden of Reflection - 5K Run/Walk at Memorial Park This Race benefits the Lower Makefield Township Garden of Reflection endowment fund to help preserve the Garden of Reflection memorial for future generations. Center School Hosts Group and Personal Tours This Summer
Since 1989, Center School in Abington, PA has supported students in grades 1-8 who have language-based learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, auditory and visual processing disorders. Center School is dedicated to designing personalized instructional programs to foster each child's optimal development through the use of small group instruction. This involves the ongoing diagnosis of the strengths and needs of each student. With a heavy literacy focus, students are immersed in a structured, practical, and multi-modal approach to learning. Sand Sculptures at Peddlers Village
Through August 31, Bucks County Beach Days: Sand Sculptures in the Village will showcase six 12-foot-tall sculptures and two smaller ones created by four world-renowned master sand sculptors. The spectacular sculptures, all of which are due to be completed by June 8 (weather depending), will pay homage to Bucks County’s rich history, landmarks, and scenery. Sandboxes designed for family play will also be placed throughout the property. The event is one of many– including free giveaways all year long and a 60s-style dance party in June–scheduled during Peddler’s Village’s celebratory 60th anniversary year. The finished sculptures will showcase numerous Bucks County landmarks and themes, including Peddler’s Village, Washington’s Crossing Historic Park, covered bridges, Fonthill Castle, and the Bucks County Playhouse, among others. The Grundy Museum will host Judy Gaunt and Dawn and Jim McCreary from Friends of Burlington Island on the River Park Lawn, Saturday, Aug 6, from 11:30am – 1:00pm. Get an up close and personal look at the Island seated on the Lawn behind the Museum as their live presentation “Burlington Island, In Your Backyard” unfolds. In partnership with the Friends of Washington Crossing Park the next meeting of the Washington Crossing Historic Park Book Club is set for Monday, August 15, 2022 at 5:30 PM. This meeting will be held virtually using Zoom. Availability of this title is limited. The park gift shop is offering a 25% discount for the book to book club participants. Museum curator Kimberly McCarty will lead a discussion of the book club’s next selection: The Revolutionary World of a Free Black Man: Jacob Francis, 1754-1836 by William L. Kidder. We will discuss Chapters 7-11.

This training will help participants to develop leadership skills, learn How to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave and learn about basic child care. Take a walk in the park with your favorite patriotic pup! On Saturday, August 20, throw a leash on your four-legged friend and join us for a mile-long group walk through Washington Crossing Historic Park. Walks are scheduled for 10 AM and noon.
All dogs will receive a complimentary tricorn hat. Owners will also be able to meet with representatives from Bucks County Treasurer’s office, who will provide information about dog licenses. More information on the meeting location will be provided when you register. This is a rain or shine event. There is no cost to participate.

Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr., will appear in “A Toast to the Rat Pack” at the historic Newtown Theatre on Sunday, August 21 at 3 PM.
This live concert is a musical journey featuring the greatest hits from these three legendary singers. The concert will include Sinatra classics such as Come Fly With Me, My Way, and New York New York. Dean chimes in with songs like Everybody Loves Somebody and That’s Amore while Sammy entertains the crowd with Mr. Bojangles, Candy Man, and others. 8/21 - Octagonal Schoolhouse Tours, Newtown
You are invited to experience and tour the Octagonal Schoolhouse, a historic one-story, one-room stone schoolhouse building that was in operation from 1802 to 1850. This is the only remaining octagonal schoolhouse in Bucks County, currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. All open houses will occur between 1:00 and 5:00 pm, on the following Sundays: August 21st, September 18th, and October 16th. There is no charge for admission.

8/27 - Trent House Reenactment, The Encampment at Trenton NJ
The Trent House Association presents a free all-day re-enactment on the grounds of the William Trent House Museum from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Soldiers of Le Régiment Bourbonnais will erect tents on site and will relive camp life including cooking over a fire pit. Members of the 1st Rhode Island Regiment will recount stories of African American soldiers who formed about one-quarter of Washington's army. Both regiments will demonstrate military drills with children encouraged to learn commands in English and French. Ned Hector, a free Black man who was teamster and bombardier in Washington's army, will engage all ages in conversation about his life and service. Injury and disease were an enemy as much as the British, and an army surgeon and an apothecary will demonstrate the tools and practices of medical care of the time. Informal talks will be given throughout the day by local experts on the maps created. Children and adults can try on items of French uniforms for photographs and children can take part in a scavenger hunt as they tour the grounds, with books as prizes.
