Capitol Debate Summer Camps teach the fundamentals of public speaking and argumentation, enabling kids to develop core presentation and debating skills that boost confidence and self-esteem. Our debate camps teach students to structure arguments, prepare debate cases, research evidence, write rebuttal briefs, deliver speeches and refute opponent arguments. Capitol Debate's goal is to enrich the social, intellectual, and academic lives of our students through the art of communication. Since 2006, our academic camps have grown to serve thousands of students and are now hosted across the United States on over 15 campuses.

Crossing Vineyards and Winery 2022 Summer Wine & Music Series
The Summer Music Series kicks off on June 3rd with The Fabulous Greaseband: '50s to '90s Rock 'n Roll. Other June performances are June. 10 - JC Cole & Folsom '68 Band: a Johnny Cash Tribute Band, and June 17th, The -Sensational Soul Cruisers: 60’s, 70’s & 80’s Soul, RnB and more. Performances are on Fridays at 7 pm, rain or shine.
Cost: $15 per person in advance. $20 the week of the concert.
Bring a lawn chair. Wine, beer, Crossing “Crushies” and light bites available for purchase. No outside beverages are permitted. Advance ticket purchase suggested.

Yardley 5K Run and Walk
Yardley Borough Parks and Recreation Board is hosting the 13th annual Yardley 5K. The run begins in the heart of Yardley Borough and includes River Road along the Delaware River and along the Delaware Canal Towpath.
Awards, fees, and t-shirts: Race fee includes a t-shirt to all participants that register by April 22, 2022. Walkers and strollers are welcome, and we ask that you start at the back.
You must finish within 40 minutes for your time to count towards an award. There is a 50-minute course limit for this race. Race begins at W. Afton Avenue and S. Main Street

Newtown Township Parks & Recreation 2022 Summer Camp Employment
Newtown Township Parks & Recreation is looking for staff who are Enthusiastic, Responsible, Positive & Creative! Camp dates are Monday, June 27, 2022 through Friday, August 5, 2022 (No camp July 1st or 4th). All camp staff are required to be available for the entire six weeks and will be expected to attend every day. Staff training and camp setup is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, June 23rd and 24th and is mandatory for all camp employees and volunteers. CPR and First Aid Training will take place on Wednesday, June 22nd, if you are not certified. Salary:
Camp Management (college degree in teaching) - starting at $14 per hour
Senior Counselor (18+) - starting at $11 per hour
Counselors (15+) - starting at $9 per hour
Substitute Counselors (15+) - starting at $9 per hour; Volunteers (14+)

On Friday, May 6 from 5:30 PM to 7 PM, families will have the opportunity to build and take home their very own bluebird house! After learning about bird homes and taking part in building a cavity nest box, participants will then have the opportunity to join the Park Naturalist for a short bird walk. Bashore has been active in the New York jazz scene for more than a decade, performing and recording with Christian McBride, Jimmy Heath, Orrin Evans and the Captain Black Big Band, Charles Tolliver, Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble, among others. Have you ever wanted to learn how to maneuver a kayak? Well here is your chance. This two-hour class, led by Kayaking Instructor, Cameron Calista, introduces you to the parts of a kayak, how to hold and move a kayak paddle, how to enter and exit a kayak, ways to keep your balance while kayaking and, of course, how to get around on the water in a kayak. The historic Newtown Theatre will host the Newtown Chamber Orchestra’s annual performance of “Peter and the Wolf” on Sunday, May 15 at 4 PM.
This narrated, family-friendly concert includes audience participation, a musical “petting zoo” which gives children the chance to touch various musical instruments, and a take-home booklet of fun educational materials.

5/29 - Jazz Concert on the Riverbank
The Friends of Washington Crossing Park (PA) and the historic Newtown Theatre are teaming up to present a free outdoor jazz concert on Saturday, May 28 from 6 to 8 PM. The concert will be held on the banks of the Delaware River near the park’s Visitor Center. The Triple Ts, a jazz-fusion trio based in Philadelphia, will play a mix of original music and jazz standards. The band has played several times at the park and the theatre, in addition to touring the U.S. in support of its album, The Sessions: Vol 1. Attendees are welcome to bring their own picnic dinner, chairs, and blankets. Alcohol is not permitted in the state park. Four-legged friends are welcome but must be leashed and under control at all times. No registration is required for this free concert. Rain date is Monday, May 30 at the same time.
