Yardley Based Non Profit Food Pantry Needs Donations
Pantries typically run low in the summer while food insecure families continue to need assistance. Since school is out, their children do not receive free/reduced breakfast and lunch. The Second Helping food pantry is running low items such as PB&J, soup, Ravioli’s/Spaghettio’s, beans, Mac & cheese, tuna, canned chicken, canned fruit, and jarred sauce. We can only accept items that are unopened and dated 2016+. Also, we can accept produce! Wood Lane Professional Center, 1262 Wood Lane, Ste 104, Langhorne. Our hours are 9 AM-3 PM Monday-Friday, 3rd Tuesday 6:30 PM-8:30 PM and 3rd Saturday 10 AM-noon. www.secondhelpingpa.org
The 2017 Eighth Annual New Hope Film Festival, Get Your Tickets Now!
The 2017 Eighth Annual New Hope Film Festival, touted as “this emerging ‘Sundance East’” in a June 2012 article in The Huffington Post, will take place from July 21st through July 30th. The Festival will present 104 films from 16 countries and 32 scripts. Many of the films are U.S. and world premieres. Films will be screened at the New Hope Arts Center. Filmmakers from around the country and abroad will attend and there will be opportunities to meet filmmakers at the question and answer sessions following the films. https://www.newhopefilmfestival.com
Wednesday Night Farm Stand at Snipes Farm and Education Center
Stop by our Wednesday Night Farmstand tonight from 4PM to 6PM. Pick up some farm-fresh veggies and say hello to some of the participants in our Seed to Fork program. All produce is grown at Snipes Farm and is subject to availability. Bristol Borough Floating Day Docks Now Open to Boaters
Bristol Borough’s new 3 million dollar dock project was opened to the public at at a ribbon cutting and ceremony on June 29, 2017. These are floating docks, built to stay in the water year-round can accommodate both fishermen and boaters on the designated access pier and docks. Situated at the bottom of the downtown Mill Street shopping district, boaters can now get out and an enjoy Bristol’s various shops and restaurants or even visit a museum. more info

The Grundy Library is hosting many reading events this summer including the 2017 Adult Summer Reading Club, a photographic scavenger hunt of places and items found throughout Bristol Borough. 7/7 - Delaware River Towns First Friday Night Fireworks. The fireworks will take place right after the Chamber’s popular “First Fridays” program which is held from 5pm to 9pm on the first Friday of each month. Over a dozen galleries from both Lambertville, NJ and New Hope, PA will be participating. You can also expect live music and special offers at area bars and restaurants. 7/7 - Friday Night UnWINED Concert with Fireworks! The party’s at Shady Brook Farm every Friday night all summer long. 7/13 - Second Annual PechaKucha Night. The Newtown Theatre will take face-to-face conversation to a new level during our second PechaKucha Night at 7:30 pm. PechaKucha (which means “chit-chat” in Japanese) is an informal, fast-paced, multiple-speaker event that has been held in more than 900 cities worldwide. During a PechaKucha Night, presenters abide by a few simple rules: choose a topic they’re passionate about, be prepared to speak in front of an audience, and limit the talk to 20 slides. The catch? Presenters only get 20 seconds to talk about each slide. That’s bad news for ramblers because the slides keep advancing—with or without the presenter! 7/29 - “Wine on the Waterfront” Tasting Event to Benefit Washington Crossing. The first-ever “Wine on the Waterfront” tasting event will be held on Saturday, July 29 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Washington Crossing Historic Park. Set among the Colonial Village near the corner of River Road and Rt. 532, this event will feature live jazz music and tastings of more than 40 varieties of wine from seven Bucks County wineries. 7/31 - Student Fife and Drum Corps To Perform at Washington Crossing Park. A student Fife and Drum Corps hailing from Plymouth, Mich., will perform at the park at 4pm. This free, public presentation will take place in the Colonial Village area of the park, near the intersection of Routes 32 (River Road) and 532. The Plymouth Fife and Drum Corps is made up of 40 to 50 students ranging from 12 to 18 years old. The group’s music spans the 17th to 20th centuries, emphasizing music played during the Revolutionary War to relay commands, direct units, and provide marching rhythm. www.washingtoncrossingpark.org |
