5/8: Sheep shearing at Washington Crossing Historic Park, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
The public is invited to the Thompson-Neely House & Farmstead in Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA) on Friday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the annual Colonial sheep shearing event. Attendees can see sheep being shorn of their winter wool coats and then try their hand at the many steps it takes to turn the fleece into clothing. This program is open to the general public, home-schooled children and students in public, parochial and private schools. Admission is $9 for everyone age four and older. 5/8-9: Curtain Up Productions and the Downtown Performing Arts Center Present "All Shook Up"
Get ready to shake things up with the rockin' 1950s musical "All Shook Up," featuring 25 of Elvis Presley's greatest hits. 5/8-29: Beginner Quilting Class
This class is designed to teach all the skills needed to make a basic "wall hanging" quilt. Techniques will be taught in class and block construction done at home. 5/12: Free Lecture: "Unique and Rare Postcards of the Delaware Canal"
The Friends of Washington Crossing Park and the Friends of the Delaware Canal will co-host a free lecture – "Unique and Rare Postcards of the Delaware Canal and Nearby Sites" – on Tuesday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Washington Crossing Historic Park Visitor Center auditorium. The lecture will feature numerous images of the Delaware Canal, Washington Crossing and area inns and stores from postcards that date back to the early 20th century – the "Golden Age" of postcards. The lecture will be narrated by Steven Cohen, an active postcard collector and member of the Washington Crossing Card Collectors Club, and Susan Taylor, executive director of the Friends of the Delaware Canal.

On May 15 from noon to 4 p.m., the public can attend a half-day program at Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA) that will feature demonstrations of historic weapons and lectures on the American Revolution and the events and people surrounding George Washington’s Christmas night crossing of the Delaware River. 5/19: "I'll Be Me" Free Screening
On Tuesday, May 19 at 7 p.m., Pickering Manor will present a screening of “I’ll Be Me” – an award-winning film about legendary singer Glen Campbell and his fight against Alzheimer’s disease. The movie will be shown at the Newtown Theatre, 120 N. State Street in Newtown. Tickets are free but only 200 are available. Tickets are limited to two per person and can be picked up on a first-come, first-served basis at Pickering Manor, 226 N. Lincoln Ave. in Newtown between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is the only screening of “I’ll Be Me” in Bucks County. “I’ll Be Me” documents Campbell’s journey as he and his family attempt to navigate the wildly unpredictable nature of his progressing disease using love, laughter and music as their medicine of choice. 5/24: Memorial Day observance at Washington Crossing Historic Park
Washington Crossing Historic Park will hold a Memorial Day observance on Sunday, May 24 at 1 p.m. at the gravesite of Continental soldiers. The event is free and open to the public. The observation will include a colonial color guard, the Old Barracks Fife & Drum Corps, Revolutionary War reenactors, the Guardians of the National Cemetery Firing Party, Daughters of the American Revolution, veterans, Boy Scouts, and other honored guests. During the event, American flags will be placed on the graves. The gravesite marks the resting place of soldiers who died during the Continental army’s December 1776 encampment in Bucks County. Although no Americans were killed during the Delaware River crossing and the First Battle of Trenton, some soldiers succumbed to exposure, disease or previous injuries. James Moore, a 26-year-old artillery captain from a New York regiment, is the only veteran buried in this plot whose identity is known. The gravesite is located near the Thompson-Neely House, about two miles south of New Hope at the intersection of Route 32 and Aquetong Rd.
