All summer long, you can volunteer with (Bucks County Opportunity Council) BCOC at local farms; field work that we hope will provide between 30,000-40,000 pounds of produce for Bucks County families in need.
These initiatives provide Bucks County food pantries with locally grown, healthy produce to supplement the non-perishable goods they distribute. Each week, BCOC volunteers work on a combination of tasks including harvesting, weeding, planting, and more. These opportunities are offered during the week (Monday-Friday only) at two locations, starting at approximately 8:30 AM, weather-permitting.
Volunteers can assist at locations in New Hope and Doylestown.
New Hope Charitable Farm is a historic private property growing beans, squash, corn, carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, and herbs for our families in need. This pilot partnership is part of our “Cultivating with CARE” project- Community Agriculture Redistributed Equitably.
On the grounds of Delaware Valley University, fruits and vegetables are being planted and harvested to feed our friends and neighbors in need. This charitable initiative, known as Hope of the Harvest, has produced over 115,000 pounds of food for BCOC since its inaugural growing season in 2012.
