Marie Larounis, a junior at Council Rock High School North, has earned Girl Scouting’s Gold Award for her efforts in refurbishing a historical garden in Newtown Borough.
The garden, referred to as the “Boone Garden,” belongs to The Newtown Historic Association and is located across the street from the Half Moon Inn. Marie led a group of nine girls, all local friends, who were happy to lend their efforts to her project and to the Newtown Historic Association.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest honor Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors can earn and entails a minimum of 80 hours of work and leadership.
