Upcoming December 2025 Events at Silver Lake Nature Center
Jingle Tales with “Mrs. Claus.” Saturday, 12/6, 10:30-11:30am. Join Mrs. Claus and some VERY Special Friends (& surprises) on a magical North Pole adventure, full of holiday stories and songs! Make an ornament to take home and enjoy some holiday cookies fresh from Mrs. Claus’ kitchen! This is a “fun for the whole family” event! Monthly Volunteer Work Days. Join us on the first Saturday of each month, from 10am to 12pm to help keep the beautiful SLNC Trails/Grounds so beautiful. Be prepared to get wet and dirty. “IPR Team” Volunteer Project Day. Saturday, 12/13, 10am - 12pm. The Invasive Plants Removal Team meets once a month to help clear Invasive Plants from specific areas on the SLNC Grounds/Trails. Each season brings new plants in various degrees of difficulty and also serves as a learning opportunity! These Project Days also involve planting native plants and trees. SOLD OUT!! Winter Solstice Celebration Concert. Monday, 12/15, 6pm. This Big Band Musical Extravaganza ~ featuring Al Mikula’s Red Garter Band & Professor Gloria Galante’s Harp Ensemble & Other Special Guests in honor of the Winter Solstice has SOLD OUT! Thank you for your support!!
SLNC Earthship Tours. Saturday, 12/20, 1pm-2:30pm. Stop by to visit and learn about these interesting, sustainable structures! Tours are FREE, but donations to the nonprofit Friends of SLNC are greatly appreciated.

“The Wonder of it All” Holiday Concert by Christopher Westfall. Saturday, 12/20, 7:30pm. (Doors open at 7pm.) Singer, songwriter, musician, and Nashville recording artist, Chris Westfall, returns to SLNC to celebrate this beautiful Season in Song! “Concert will feature seasonal favorites and traditional carols! And…a few surprises! Full guitar lineup and piano of course!”

FREE Winter Solstice Walk. Sunday, 12/21, 1pm -2pm. Families & Individuals are invited to join us for a FREE Guided Nature Walk on the beautiful SLNC Trails ~ in honor of the Winter Solstice!! Day-off from School Camp. Tuesday, December 30th, 9am-4pm (with before/after care options available). This fun day of camp (in winter!) is designed to keep children engaged and entertained. From ages 5 to 12, children will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that embrace the beauty of the natural world. Guided by SLNC’s awesome Camp Director/Environmental Educator, Ms. Holly, Campers will embark on exciting adventures that include Nature Hikes, Outdoor Games, Hands-on Crafts, and more! Homeschool Enrichment Series. Registration is OPEN for Winter Wednesdays, 1/7/26-1/28/26, 10:30am -12pm OR 1:30pm-3pm. SLNC’s Homeschool Enrichment Series is an option for families who take a different approach to educating their children (ages 5-14). Our 4-week program provides an opportunity for children to get hands-on experience within the STEM disciplines, without formal constraints. Each of the lessons are developed with the PA Standard Aligned System (SAS) in mind and ensures that children will excel in all settings. Trails are open daily, from Sunrise to Sunset. SLNC Visitors’ Center is open, Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10am-5pm & Sundays, Noon-5pm.
The Silver Lake Nature Center, where learning comes naturally, is a 264-acre Nature Preserve located in Bristol Township, Bucks County. It is a facility of the Bucks County Department of Parks & Recreation with additional funding and staffing provided by the Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center nonprofit organization. SLNC is home to over 40 plant and animal species listed as rare, threatened, or endangered in Pennsylvania. Participation in programs helps protect these species and their habitats.
The Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation was established in 1953. The Department is responsible for the acquisition, development, and preservation of open space and regional parks. The Department seeks in every endeavor to improve the quality of life and environment for all Bucks County residents, by working to enhance existing and projected recreational and cultural needs for our County.
