WCHP is pleased to partner with the David Center for the American Revolution at the American Philosophical Society to present a lecture by historian Travis Glasson on his new book, Nobody Men: Neutrality, Loyalties, and Family in the American Revolution (Yale University Press, 2025). While the American Revolution is often framed as a conflict between Patriots and Loyalists, nearly one-third of the colonial population remained neutral. In this lecture, Glasson examines the experiences of the Cruger family, a transatlantic merchant family who sought survival and stability over political allegiance. Their story illuminates the difficult choices faced by those who lived “in the middle” of a violent civil war and offers new insight into how revolutionary societies were shaped.

The Indoor Auto Racing Championship Fueled by VP Racing Fuels brings together the greatest racers in the region to compete in auto racing events indoors. Events take place from December through February in arenas along the East Coast. Whereas most races take place on specific race tracks, the Indoor Auto Racing Championship events take place on the cement floor of the arena. Combining all of the exciting short track racing action – fierce competitors, high speeds, passing, bumps, crashes and flips – intensifies them and puts them in easy view of spectators, with the amenities of modern sports, concert, and event facilities.

This Tony- and Oscar-nominated tale of seduction, the inspiration for the film Cruel Intentions, is a classic drama of deception set among the aristocrats of pre-revolutionary France — exploring sexuality, morality, and manipulation as the ultimate game in which rivals Merteuil and Valmont compete to lure the virtuous Tourvel and Cécile into their treacherous schemes, with tragic results. $36 to $38.
