Celebrating 45 years of Scarecrows in the Village
An autumn tradition continues starting September 9! For six fun-filled weeks, over 100 scarecrows line the brick pathways of our autumn-tinted Village. Some are inspired by famous characters, some are humorous, some are scary – but all of them are carefully handmade by Philly-area residents and organizations. The display is free and on view every day through October 27. Our annual scarecrow-making workshop on the Street Road Green has been a family favorite for years! Construct a life-size scarecrow to take home. You will be provided with step-by-step instructions, plenty of straw, and a pre-made kit containing clothing, and decorations.

Class Description:  Learn the ancient art of Shibori dyeing.  Shibori involves folding, binding, twisting or stitching natural fabric and then submerging the article in a vat of indigo dye several times.  Variations are a natural result, so each piece is truly one-of-a-kind.  Four Shibori pattern techniques will be taught.  You will then choose which technique you wish to use as you create your own two scarves, set of zippered throw pillow covers or large cotton tote bag.  Perfect for gifting friends and family!  All materials will be supplied and are included in pricing.
