NEWTOWN, Pa. – The historic Newtown Theatre will feature 12 concerts in May that cover a wide variety of musical genres – from disco and classic rock to jazz and pop. The May concert lineup includes:
- “The Discoteks: A Tribute to 70s Dance Music” on Friday, May 2 at 8:00 p.m. This powerhouse dance/show band performs 1970s disco and Motown.
- “A Tribute to Tom Petty” on Saturday, May 3 at 3:00 and 8:00 p.m. Damn the Torpedoes offers a complete Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers concert experience.
- “Music in the Shop: Those Looks & PA star” on Friday, May 9 at 7:45 p.m. This intimate, in-store concert will feature local musicians Those Looks and PA star playing in the cozy confines of the Newtown Book & Record Exchange.
- “Susan Werner with special guest John Train (in duo format)” on Friday, May 9 at 8:00 p.m. Susan Werner composes skillful songs that effortlessly slide between folk, jazz and pop, all delivered with sassy wit and classic Midwestern charm.
- “Chris Pinnella: Classic Rock & All-Time Hits Reimagined” on Saturday, May 10 at 8:00 p.m. Pinnella and his 12-piece orchestra play classic rock anthems and hits from artists such as The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Tina Turner, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Simon and Garfunkel and more.
- “The Ultimate Piano Rock” on Wednesday, May 14 at 3:00 p.m. Josh Christina
is a piano rock phenom who is carrying the torch passed down by piano rock’s founding fathers, including Jerry Lee Lewis, Elton John, Ray Charles, Billy Joel and more.
- “A Night of Yacht Rock” on Thursday, May 15 at 8:00 p.m. Set sail on a groovy voyage with Thurston Howell, one of America’s premier yacht rock bands.
- “Hailey Brinell Presents: A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong” on Friday, May 16 at 8:00 p.m. This concert will feature vocal duets from the album “Ella and Louis” along with other crowd pleasers such as “What a Wonderful World” and “La Vie En Rose.”
- “The Music of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler” on Sunday, May 18 at 3:00 p.m. This is the debut performance of 6 Blade Knife’s Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler tribute.
- “The Music of Phil Collins featuring Hello I Must Be Going” on Thursday, May 22 at 8:00 p.m. Hello I Must Be Going recreates three of the biggest Phil Collins tours of the 1980s.
- “A Night of Van Morrison with Tupelo Honey” on Friday, May 30 at 8:00 p.m. Tupelo Honey celebrates the man who is known by many names, including “Van the Man” and “The Master.”
- “The Ultimate Creedance Clearwater Revival/John Fogerty Tribute” on Saturday, May 31 at 8:00 p.m. Concertgoers will hear all their favorite CCR classics and songs that the band would turn into live jams such as “Born on the Bayou” and “Susie Q.”
Tickets for all concerts are available at TheNewtownTheatre.com. Beer, wine, and canned cocktails will be available for purchase at the theatre before and during the shows. The theatre is located at 120 N. State Street in Newtown Borough.
