On Saturday, May 12 2018, the Mercer Museum in Doylestown will open a new original exhibit, “Racing: A Need for Speed.”
This exhibit tells the spirited stories of triumph and competition in foot racing, horse racing, cycling and motor sport through hundreds of historic objects, including cars, vintage racing gear, trophies and more. Guests will also be able to test their skill and speed in this exhibit with racing “try-its.”
“Racing: A Need for Speed” explores racing’s local ties through personal stories from the people who made a national mark on racing in Buck’s County and beyond.
The museum will host special racing-related programming, including Black American Racers (6/23), Drag Strip Memories (7/15), The Greatest Show on Dirt: Automobile Racing at the Langhorne Speedway (7/28) and Kids Who Race Day (8/11).
Entrance into the exhibit and all special programs are included with museum admission. The exhibit will be open through Sunday, September 9, 2018.
