The Newtown United Methodist Church announced this week that it will be accepting food donations at the church during the temporary halt in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits.
SNAP program benefits, which are provided through the federal government, are being temporarily halted due to the federal government shutdown.
The community is encouraged to drop off donated non-perishable food items in the bin located on the back porch of the church at Liberty and Greene streets in Newtown Borough. Park in the lot behind the church to unload donations.
All collected items will go directly to the Wrightstown Food Cupboard at the Penns Park United Methodist Church, the church's ongoing mission partner serving families throughout the area. Financial contributions are also welcome and will allow Wrightstown Food Pantry to purchase fresh and essential items for those in need. To donate, click here.
