Getting Graphic with History: The Life and Times of Jimmy Brown, Heritage Lecture
Thursday April 9, 2026
ZOOM Take a journey with author Amy Hollander on April 9th at 7:30 PM to explore her recent graphic novel, Low Bridge, Everybody Down, which shares the real-life experiences of Jimmy Brown, a black canal boat captain on the Delaware and Lehigh Canal in the early 1900s. Learn how Hollander crafted the story by combining Jimmy's oral histories within the framework of local, regional, and national events, and how she interwove her narrative with the vibrant art of Will Rosado to create a dynamic interplay of word and image — one that will engage the next generation of young readers with the diverse history of the Delaware and Lehigh Canal system.
