Announcing the Fourth Annual Main Street Voices Poetry Contest

Established in 2014, the mission of the Main Street Voices Poetry Contest is to encourage and inspire poets of all ages in the Bucks County community, sharing the importance of poetry and the written word.

The Main Street Voices Poetry Contest is open to all residents of Bucks County, with monetary awards given to winners in the adult and student categories. Four award-winning poets will judge the contest, including three former Bucks County Poets Laureate, and a professor at Bucks County Community College.

Glenda Childs, owner of The Doylestown & Lahaska Bookshops formed the committee to create this landmark event with the bookshop’s poetry coordinator Melanie Eyth, and Krisy Paredes (Marketing and Events Manager at The Doylestown & Lahaska Bookshops). It quickly became apparent that the event was larger than the three of them so Marie Kane (2006 Bucks County Poet Laureate), Ellen Mager (Booktenders Secret Garden), Kimberly Cambra (CB Cares Executive Director) and Kathy Morrison (The Newtown Bookshop) volunteered to join the committee, helping to create and put the finishing touches on the event.
The awards reception and reading will be held Saturday, May 19th at 2:00 pm at the
The James Lorah House, 132 N Main St, Doylestown, PA 18901. Attendees will enjoy poetry read by all of our winners, as well as refreshments and an opportunity to meet these talented poets.
Poetry entries must be postmarked by Monday, April 16th 2018. For more information and instructions on how to enter please visit the Facebook page @mainstreetvoicespoetry.
