On Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8, downtown Doylestown transforms into an immersive art and music venue. Scarecrows in the Village September 9 - October 27, 2024
An autumn tradition continues starting September 9! For six fun-filled weeks, over 100 scarecrows line the brick pathways of our autumn-tinted Village. Some are inspired by famous characters, some are humorous, some are scary – but all of them are carefully handmade by Philly-area residents and organizations. The display is free and on view every day through October 27. BCCC’s Annual Bucks County Poet Laureate Competition
The Bucks County Poet Laureate Program is seeking the 2024 Laureate. The postmark deadline for submission to the competition is Friday, September 13, 2024.
The winner of the competition will receive a $500 honorarium, a plaque from the Bucks County Commissioners, and a reading at Bucks County Community College in the fall with the previous year’s laureate, Tara Tamburello.
Entrants to the competition must be Bucks County residents and 18 years or older. Poetry of any kind is welcome. The entry requires 10 poems, any style, form, or length. All work must be original, published or unpublished, typewritten or word-processed, one poem per page, in black ink. Poems and entry form must be submitted online at bucks.edu/poetlaureateentry

9/7 - Newtown Black & White Dinner
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. when diners arrive to find tables draped in white linens stretching hundreds of feet down the street. Guests can mingle, decorate their tables, and enjoy live jazz music prior to dinner, which begins at 6:30 p.m.
Dinner will conclude at 8:00 p.m. with a communal, Instagram-worthy lighting of sparklers by the diners. Following dinner, the theatre will host a special dueling pianos concert inside the theatre (concert tickets sold separately from the dinner tickets…250-person limit…this will be the first concert held after the theatre reopens following renovations).
For this event, diners are to dress only in black and white (formal wear is absolutely not required) and bring everything they need for dinner under the stars, including food, utensils, and optional black and white décor.

 Learn the ancient art of Shibori dyeing. Shibori involves folding, binding, twisting or stitching natural fabric and then submerging the article in a vat of indigo dye several times. The Imperial Forces -- under orders from cruel Darth Vader -- hold Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) hostage, in their efforts to quell the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford), captain of the Millennium Falcon, work together with the companionable droid duo R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) and C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) to rescue the beautiful princess, help the Rebel Alliance, and restore freedom and justice to the Galaxy.
Doors open at 2:30 PM and the film starts at 3 PM.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and $6 for Newtown Theatre members. Tickets can be purchased only at the box office right before the film.

Join us on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 8:30 am to 11:30 am for the
7th annual Delaware River Cleanup to keep Our River clean and pristine!
The Delaware River Greenway Partnership (DRGP) is excited to announce a collaborative river cleanup event on September 21, 2024. In partnership with the NJ Clean Communities programs in Hunterdon and Mercer Counties and the NJ Park Service, we are coming together to tackle the litter along the shores of our Wild and Scenic Delaware River. This year’s cleanup will cover twenty areas along the river, stretching from the Delaware Water Gap, NJ, to Duck Island at the Abbott Marshlands in Hamilton. Volunteers will remove trash from along the shoreline, or join an on-water cleanup at the Giving Pond in Bucks County.
