Once Labor Day is in the rearview mirror, the holiday season seems to approach at warp speed. Join McCaffrey’s Registered Dietitian, Jill Kwasny for a fun, informative, and free program “Ready or Not, the Holidays are Coming.” As always, Jill will offer menu ideas, cooking techniques and share a delicious recipe.

The program will be held on:

11/9 at the McCaffrey’s Market in Blue Bell located at 1301 Skippack Pike from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
11/16 at the McCaffrey’s in Yardley located at Edgewood Village Shopping Center at 635 Heacock Road from 10:00 – 11:00 am.

The Old Mill Hill Society

The Old Mill Hill Society welcomes visitors to our annual Holiday House Tour featuring festive homes, friendly hosts, food trucks and Santa Claus himself strolling this historic downtown neighborhood from noon to 5 pm on Saturday Dec. 2, 2023.

Come join the fun! This year’s tour features interior décor and outdoor hospitality, where guests can relax, mingle and enjoy refreshments.
In addition, plans include food trucks, music and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Nearby attractions include historic sites, museums, galleries and restaurants. Tour tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance through TrentonMillHill.org or on the day-of at Artworks.

Boheme Opera NJ

Boheme Opera NJ ushers in the Christmas season with Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors – an uplifting, inspirational opera of two children joined by faith on the eve of the Nativity. A poor mother and her disabled son, Amahl, who has a penchant for tall tales, open their humble home to the Three Kings on their westward, star-guided quest. What begins as a respite on the road to Bethlehem becomes a journey of learning, love and healing. 	Canal-O-Ween 2023 Details Canal-O-Ween is our annual week-long Jack-O-Lantern lighting, which really sets the tone for Halloween in Yardley. Residents and visitors enjoy the beauty of the autumn season as they stroll along the Delaware Canal, getting to witness the creativity of more than 300 individually carved Jack-O-Lanterns of those who participated in the Carve-O-Thon. In 2023, the Carve-O-Thon will be taking place on Sunday October 29th. In 2023, the Canal-O-Ween Stroll will be taking place from October 29th through November 4th. Cannon Firing Demonstration!* Lamb’s Artillery Company (Revolutionary War reenactment group) will be conducting Artillery demonstrations from 12:00 Noon. to 4:00 P.M. in the field behind the Visitor Center Museum at Washington Crossing State Park, Titusville, New Jersey, on Saturday, November 4th. The cannon firing demonstrations will be held at 12:00, 1:30, 2:30 & 3:30. This event is co-sponsored by The Swan Historical Foundation Inc. The Visitor Center Museum can be reached from I-95 by taking the Trenton/Lambertville Exit (this is the first exit in N.J. heading north and the last exit heading south). Clean, well-fitting socks are a vital part of keeping feet healthy, yet this simple piece of clothing is anything but simple to someone experiencing homelessness. The Birches at Newtown is partnering with its in-house podiatrist Lawrence C. Kalker, M.S., D.P.M, P.C., to collect brand-new socks. A fresh pair of socks provides much-needed warmth, comfort, and relief to those in need. From Nov. 2 through Dec. 30, The Birches, located at 70 Durham Road, will be a drop-off site for new, quality socks in various sizes for men, women, and children. The collection will benefit the Valley Youth House, Bucks County Emergency Homeless Shelter, and Coalition to Shelter and Support the Homeless. This annual program has collected over 13,000 pairs of brand-new socks. If you drop off a pair of new socks at The Birches (this location only), you’ll receive a free scratch-off lottery ticket during Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Must be 18 years or older. The public bus tours will be offered on December 9th and December 29th, 2023 as well as January 6th, 2024 from 9 AM to 4 PM. It begins and ends at Washington Crossing, PA. Historical interpreters Roger Williams and Larry Kidder will tell the remarkable story of the ten days that breathed crucial new life into the apparently expiring American Revolution. The events are discussed in the context of the local, strategically important central New Jersey towns, villages, and farms. Registration is required.
