A Message From the Yardley Farmers Market
Due to COVID-19, our Winter Market location at the Yardley Friends Meeting is not available this season. At this time, we are planning to take the months of January through April off. If things change we will shout it from the rooftops!
Although we are sorry that we cannot provide a Winter Market this year due to COVID, we are happy to report that some of our vendors are eager to continue providing their product to Yardley area customers on a pre-order and pickup or delivery basis.

Love the Arts Show and Sale at AOY Art Center
AOY Art Center (Yardley PA) is showing their love of the arts, and the artists that create art with a celebration of the arts entitled “Love the Arts!” You are invited to view original art by AOY member artists through February 21, 2021. “What’s really exciting about this online show is that there is no size restriction which we usually impose due to our available gallery space,” said Bette Sovinee, AOY Coordinator. “This is not a Valentine’s theme show. We just asked our artists to do what they love in the hopes that customers will find something they love. The show is entirely ONLINE at aoyartcenter.org

Through the Lens: Modern Photography in the Delaware Valley, Begins Feb 5th at The Michener Art Museum
Through the Lens explores nearly 70 years of artistic experimentations with photographic processes and subject matter by artists in the Delaware Valley region. Considered through the lenses of Form & Figuration, Landscape, Community, and Social Activism, approximately 100 photographs demonstrate a diversity of styles and approaches. With work ranging from carefully hand-painted, bucolic landscapes to decisive snapshots taken on the street, Through the Lens highlights distinctive work in the Michener’s photography collection, including many that have never before been on view.

Bucks County Community College Breaks Ground on New Center for Advanced Technologies
Bucks County Community College, the region’s leader in workforce development training, has officially broken ground on a new Center for Advanced Technologies at the Gene and Marlene Epstein Campus at Lower Bucks.
The 28,000-square-foot building will stand prominently on Veterans Highway (Route 413) in Bristol Township.“This new center will allow us to continue to expand our workforce programs and train future generations of skilled workers, the kind of qualified and dedicated employees that Bucks County’s businesses need to stay vital in the 21st century,” said Dr. Stephanie Shanblatt, Bucks County Community College President. “We’re igniting a spark that will inspire people from all walks of life to pursue the education they need to have a career that is enriching for themselves, their families, and the broader community.” You can watch the groundbreaking video here.

AIDS Memorial Quilt Virtual Exhibition
Sadly, FACT’s Annual World AIDS Day candlelight vigil at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in New Hope event is off this year. However, the National AIDS Memorial, in partnership with the AIDS Quilt Touch team, is presenting all 48,000 panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in an interactive, online exhibition, which you can view here.
FACT Bucks County and the Family Service Association of Bucks County are sponsoring several panels together. Family Service Association of Bucks County is a nonprofit community-based social service organization located in Langhorne, PA.

Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward Program Now Accepting Applications
The Penn State Extension Watershed Steward program is offering basic training classes in Bucks County beginning in spring 2021. The program provides extensive coursework in water and natural resources with ongoing volunteer and educational opportunities that allow participants to make a difference in their communities. The program seeks individuals who enjoy learning, have the desire and time to volunteer, and appreciate working with others. This spring’s training will be held virtually via Zoom on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m., beginning March 3, 2021, through June 2, 2021. Optional in-person field experiences will be scheduled locally with Covid-19 safety measures in place. 2/7 - Lecture, Soldiers of Color in George Washington's Army
Virtual lecture through Zoom, hosted by Washington Crossing Historic Park from 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM. Toward the end of the Revolutionary War, between 10 and 25 percent of Washington’s army consisted of soldiers of color. For these men, the Revolutionary War was actually two wars: while the country fought for its existence, Black soldiers struggled for their own freedom. And they had to choose a side. Reenactor Noah Lewis, who portrays artillerist Edward “Ned” Hector, will lead this free virtual lecture. The lecture portion will last for about 45 minutes, and questions will be taken from the audience after the lecture. Register.

The self sustainable SLNC Earthship will be open to the public today from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm with tours. Stop by to visit and learn about these interesting, sustainable structures! Due to CDC and PA Government Guidelines, when visiting the SLNC Earthship, please wear a mask while inside the Earthship, and practice “social distancing.” Please be aware that we need to limit the number of Guests inside the Earthship at one time, and that you may be asked to wait to enter or to return a little later. 2/15 - School’s Out Camp, Dynamix Gymnastics
When school’s out, gymnastics camp is in! Come flip, tumble, and roll with us at our themed gymnastics camps! We will run a full day of fun activities from 9am to 3pm
including obstacle courses, relays, games, crafts, and more. Coaches will work gymnastics skills on all events. Each Camp will have a theme that will be announced prior to the camp date. 2/24 - Make your own Elderberry Syrup at Home
Learn to make elderberry syrup at home with farm herbalist, Charlotte! Known for their incredible immune-enhancing properties, elderberries are one of the most esteemed cold and flu remedies in herbal medicine. Making a syrup is delicious and easy, and can be used throughout the cold and flu season to keep you and your loved ones well. In this virtual-hands-on class we will be making elderberry syrup from scratch.
Charlotte will send you your own DIY elderberry syrup kit to make while following along on a live Zoom. Class will be from 11-12:30pm and will include a step by step demo for making elderberry syrup, as well as a lesson on herbal allies for immunity. Kit includes: Elderberries, cinnamon chips, cardamom, ½ cup of honey, 1 jar, and 1 label for your elderberry syrup You will need: a medium saucepan, liquid measuring cup, water, fresh grated ginger (optional), 1 cup brandy or whiskey (optional).
