10/3: 39th Annual Market Day sponsored by the Newtown Historic Association. Market Day is a well-attended and wonderful event featuring crafters, artisans, fine arts, entertainment and food held on the first Saturday in October. Over 70 crafters will present a wide variety of interesting crafts, and demonstrations will include: chair caning, quilting, and rug hooking. Our latest addition, a Farmer’s Market, will sell fresh-from-the-farm produce. Folk music, children's activities, games, horse-drawn hayrides and a colonial militia encampment will be held throughout the day. Featured this year is a Puppet Theater in the Boone Garden. Local restaurants are participating in our Festival of Foods and Open Hearth Cooking will also be demonstrated. 10/3: A Tribute to the Beatles
The Foundation of Morris Hall/St. Lawrence, Inc. presents a Tribute to the Beatles, featuring Classical Mystery Tour. This benefit concert with the Philly Pops, blending the Beatles with a symphony orchestra, will be held at 7:30pm at the Patriots Theater at the War Memorial in Trenton, New Jersey. 10/10: Recreating the Battle of Trenton in a Wargame
The Battle of Trenton will be recreated by using miniature figures, dice and “Flint & Steel” rules developed by Richard Kane who will also be managing the game. Visitors can observe and some will be able to participate as the historic military commanders by issuing orders to their military units. The Battle of Trenton will be recreated at 1 PM at the Visitor Center Museum at Washington Crossing State Park in Titusville, New Jersey. Join actress, Karla Shantz as she portrays the novelist, Mary Shelley. Listen to Mary explain why she wrote Frankenstein, how the story came to her in a nightmare, and what caveats she hoped her readers would heed.
