Doug Schlicher, Yardley Born and Bred, Yardley Historical Association

Doug Schlicher will tell about his adventures as a Yardley boy, actor, and blacksmith during a program hosted by the Yardley Historical Association. It will be held on Sunday, April 6 at 2 p.m. in the Old Library by Lake Afton, 46 West Afton Avenue. Some people have the gift of colorfully sharing their life stories. Doug Schlicher is one of them. His tales of growing up in Yardley in the 1950’s, his acting roles, the celebrities he met, and his veer into blacksmithing and colonial crafting are engaging and entertaining. Using photos and videos, Doug will share his experiences – his days working at the local kennel, his widely varying acting jobs, being a Formula One racing buff, a long-distance hitchhiker, an encyclopedia salesman, a motorcyclist, and a craftsman supplying reproduction nails to historic sites like Pennsbury Manor and Williamsburg. At the heart of Yardley are its people. Doug Schlicher is definitely one to know. This presentation is free, and the public is welcome to attend.
