Free Career Conference for Girls, Soroptimist Club

With the goal of providing career assistance to high school-aged girls of all socio-economic levels, Soroptimist International of Indian Rock, Inc. (SIIR) is excited to announce the date for its Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls event, the fifth in its series of planned annual conferences for girls. Scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Spring Mill Country Club in Ivyland, the Dream It, Be It event is a day-long, free conference where secondary school-aged girls can learn about a variety of career opportunities as well as topics such as goal-setting, overcoming obstacles to success, and much more. During this day of collaborative learning and fun, the participants will have the opportunity to listen to and interact with women from a variety of occupations, who will share their career journeys and will be available to offer tips for success in the workplace and beyond. Visit from the Horse Doctor & Shoer, Howell Living History Farm

Shots, worming medicine, dental exams, and hoof trimming are in store for Howell Farm’s seven workhorses when the veterinarian and dentist come for their spring visit. Join them in the barn, where they will be at work all day ensuring that horses, sheep, chickens, and farm cat Bushy are fit and ready for spring. Visitors can listen to a horse’s heart through a stethoscope, watch an equine dentist at work, and learn about old and new veterinary instruments and techniques. Recovery & Mental Health Resource Fair

With one in four Americans directly affected by addiction, the Collegiate Recovery Program at Bucks County Community College invites the public to the second annual Recovery & Mental Health Community Resource Fair on Saturday, March 8. At noon, the keynote speaker will be Brandon Novak, a professional skateboarder who overcame 20 years of heroin addiction. First discovered by Tony Hawk, Novak rose to fame on the hit MTV show “Viva la Bam” and the “Jackass” movies. After his recovery, he wrote the best-selling memoir “Dreamseller,” and now travels the country to bring awareness and education to youth across the nation. His talk will be followed by a question-and-answer session. The event, made possible through Bucks County Opioid Settlement Funds, takes place at Bucks County Community College, 275 Swamp Road, Newtown, Pa., 18940.
