Breaking Out of the Food Rut
Thursday September 28, 2023
Are you in a food rut? Do you need inspiration in the kitchen? Busy schedules often lead to having the same meals day in and day out for ease and convenience. Perhaps you simply repeat the same meals over and over again because you like them. While this may work initially, consistently eating the same foods can become boring and has the potential to lead to unhealthy habits. Join McCaffrey's Registered Dietitian, Jill Kwasny, for an informative and fun nutrition program. Jill will touch on meal planning and food prep hacks in an effort to jazz up your kitchen table. As always, Jill will offer menu ideas, cooking techniques and share a delicious recipe to sample. Thursday, September 28th at the McCaffrey's in Yardley located at Edgewood Village Shopping Center at 635 Heacock Road in the upstairs bistro from 10:00 – 11:00 am.

The award-winning documentary film, How Saba Kept Singing, shares the story of Cantor, Holocaust Survivor, and Military Veteran, David S. Wisnia (93), who spends his later years travelling with his grandson and musical accompanist, Avi Wisnia (38), sharing the story of how he survived the Holocaust through music which the duo perform together. For years, Cantor Wisnia’s story centered around the belief that he survived Auschwitz mainly by using his beautiful singing voice to entertain his Nazi captors. These performances in the death camp gave him status as a ”privileged prisoner.” However, when David takes his family back to Poland for one last performance, Avi starts asking questions and they discover that someone else had a hand in Saba’s survival. An uplifting story about faith, family and resilience, proving love can grow and take hold in even the darkest of places. This film is directed by Sara Taksler (Tickling Giants), and Executive Produced by Hillary Rodham Clinton and Chelsea Clinton. Cosponsored by DEI Programs at Bucks County Community College and the Bucks County Kehillah of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia. FREE and open to Public Zlock Performing Arts Center275 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA 18940
