For more than 50 years, George Clinton has been dubbed the “Godfather of Funk”. He is the founder of the bands Parliament and Funkadelic, who have invented an extravagant brand of music mixing funk, acid jazz, as well as rhythm and blues. The musicians of those two bands were joined into one collective in 1997 on the occasion of their induction into the Rock'n Roll Hall Of Fame. Afterwards, Clinton has been known for his high-profile collaboration with such names as Prince, Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar, and continues to be an inspiration for younger generations of musicians. She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly's refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, the acclaimed young playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all. Please note this play is rated PG-13 for mature references and situations.
