6:30 PM

Bucks Beautiful’s Spring Lecture Series kicks off on Tuesday, March 3 rd with “A Holistic Approach to Landscape Design” at 7:00 pm at the Henry Schmieder Arboretum, Delaware Valley University, Life Sciences Building, 700 E. Butler Avenue in Doylestown. The expressions of Landscape Design represent a reconciliation of the dynamic natural systems with cultural aspirations and values. A holistic approach is imperative in resolving the many competing or even contradictory demands imposed on our landscapes. Creating a meaningful and inspiring place that nourishes all our senses and celebrates the wonders of the natural world requires knowledge of a site’s natural systems, an understanding of human needs and desires, and a grasp of design aesthetics.

Baldev Lamba is the principal of Lamba Associates, Landscape Architects and an Associate Professor at Temple University. He earned his Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and his Bachelor in Architecture from the Delhi University in India.  Lamba’s notable accomplishments include award-winning projects like the First Ladies Water Garden on the National Mall in Washington, DC; Hansell Park in Buckingham, PA; and the PHS Pop-Up Garden in Philadelphia; Excellence in Research and Creative Work Award from the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture; his acclaimed series of award-winning Pop-Up Parks and the publication of “Green Green,” a children’s picture book.
