Newtown Historic Association’s Holiday House Tour

On Saturday, December 7th, celebrate the beauty of the season with the Newtown Historic Association’s holiday house tour. Now in its 57th year, this tour gives visitors the opportunity to peek into several of Newtown’s unique private residences, all dressed for the holidays.

Besides the private homes, there will be several public buildings open for visitors. All sites are within easy walking distance from the town center.

The $30 cost of a tour ticket also includes entry into the Half-Moon Inn, home to the Newtown Historic Association. Once inside this beautifully restored 18th century building, tour-goers will enjoy period musical entertainment, hearthside colonial cooking demonstrations and refreshments of mulled cider and cheese.

Tour hours are from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. Advance tickets can be purchased at Newtown Book & Record Exchange, 102 S. State Street and here online. Ticket sales will begin November 15. On tour day, tickets can be purchased at the Half-Moon Inn, 105 Court Street and at the Stocking Works, 301 South State Street, Newtown. Children under the age of 12 are free.

In the event of major snow, the tour will be held on Sunday, December 8th.

Buckingham Friends School To Host Annual Snowflake Festival

Buckingham Friends School invites local families to celebrate the warmth of winter with friends and family at its Annual Snowflake Festival on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For one magical day, the school’s 44-acre wooded campus is transformed into a family-friendly winter wonderland filled with indoor and outdoor activities, including creative crafts, a kids-only Secret Shop, the Pocket Gnome, and a woodland walk to visit the Snow Queen for cookies and hot cocoa. Families can purchase a card of snowflake tickets for admissions to these activities.

There is also a bake sale starting at 10a.m., and delicious warm lunch items will be available for purchase starting at 11 a.m.

The child-centric event also features a number of free activities, including a tea room for stories and quiet time, and performances by students and other local artists.

Princeton Shopping Center Cookies with Santa Event

This family-friendly event includes cookie decorating courtesy of LiLLiPiES, holiday craft station, photo ops with Santa, holiday selfie station, live performances from Princeton High School’s a capella groups, holiday treats, and enter a raffle to win four tickets to A Christmas Carol at McCarter Theatre Center.

Attendees are asked to meet in front of Marlowe's Jewelry at 12 noon sharp to greet Santa's fire truck and then parade with Santa for a sing-a-long through the shopping center spreading holiday cheer.

The parade will end at Santa's pop-up shop in the courtyard between Surf Taco and Orvis for the event activities. Attendees have the option of bringing an unwrapped toy to be donated to HomeFront.

Cookies with Santa is free and open to everyone, and is rain or shine. This is a popular event -- please pre-register via Eventbrite.com (search “Cookies with Santa in Princeton”) to help plan for attendance.
