11th ANNUAL EARTH DAY AT THE FARM!

Join the farm crew for hands-on projects around the farm which will help kick-off our 2019 growing season with spirit! As you help, you will learn about organic farming, Snipes Farm programs and meet our animals.  Join us for an hour or two, or stay through our potluck lunch. Bring something to add to the lunch table and enjoy fellowship with farmers and friends. Consider bringing your family, youth group, scout troop or colleagues.  Free! Please email LeaDV@snipesfarm.org to register, but last minute planners will be welcomed!

Where: Starting point to be announced
We have designed a unique adventure, specific to Newtown Borough that will have you:solving clues
competing in tasks and contests
challenging your powers of observation
laughing — a lot!
Team up with your family and friends for a fun morning of competition! First, second, and third prize winners will be awarded trophies and first prize will also win $200! Compete in teams of 2 or 3 people, noting that children 13 and under must be accompanied by a parent or other appropriate adult over the age of 21.

Note: A cell phone with a camera is required.

TIMELINE:

Timeline
9:30 AM: Check-in with distribution of t-shirts and rules
10:00 AM: First clue is given
11:30 AM: Race ends
12:00 PM: Results


Registration by April 20:
$20 per person for library members ages 14 and older
$25 per person for non-library members ages 14 and older
$15 per person ages 3-13 (accompanied by an adult)


Registration after April 20:
$30 per person ages 14 and older
$15 per person ages 3-13 (accompanied by an adult)

The Shad Festival has evolved from a local art show into a nationally recognized award-winning event. Shad Fest features the area’s finest artists and crafters, great food and family entertainment, but the two-day extravaganza also serves as a venue for local non-profit organizations to raise necessary operating funds.

Peddler’s Village Family-Oriented Spring KidsFest

Peddler’s Village, a countryside shopping, dining, lodging, and family entertainment destination in the heart of historic Bucks County, PA, will present a new festival this April: Spring KidsFest, a free, family-oriented two-day event on April 27 and 28. The weekend will include traditional kids’ activities, educational opportunities, and hands-on experiences. Rain or shine, the festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Peddler's Village shops will be open until 8 p.m. on Saturday. Admission and parking are free. 

The entertainment lineup for the weekend includes live music, story times, animal presentations l, crafts, face painting, balloon artistry, moon bounces, and police cars and fire trucks. Community-based nonprofit organizations including Project SEARCH and Bucks County Audubon Society at Honey Hollow will also be represented. The American Red Cross will host a blood drive on Sunday, April 28.

Wheat & Sheep Day, Washington Crossing Park

Wheat & Sheep Day is set for Saturday, April 27 at noon at the Thompson-Neely Farmstead and Grist Mill, which is part of Washington Crossing Historic Park.
 
Watch as the Thompson-Neely sheep are shorn using period-accurate hand shears. Their fleece will become yarn available for purchase in the Visitor Center gift shop and on Etsy.
 
Other Wheat & Sheep Day activities include:
 
Learning to make colonial-style pancakes
Turning the sheep’s fleece into textiles
Watching a cooper create barrels
Touring the Thompson-Neely House, once used as a field hospital for the Continental Army
Watching a miller turn corn and wheat into flour at the Thompson-Neely Grist Mill
This event is at the Thompson-Neely Farmstead, located at 1638 River Road, New Hope, PA.
 
Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 5-11, and free for those under 5. Admission to Bowman’s Hill Tower and a tour of the Historic Village is also included with the purchase of admission to Wheat & Sheep Day.
 
 
 


Artists of Yardley Annual Juried Show, weekends 4/6 thru 4/28

The Artists of Yardley (AOY) is pleased to present the eighth Annual Juried Show from April 6 to April 28. All are welcomed to the opening reception and awards on Friday, April 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Winners of the cash prizes will be announced at this time. This free event is open to the public. Artwork in various media will include original paintings, photographs, sculptures and 3D. 

All artwork is for sale. Refreshments will be provided during the reception.The Gallery will be open and hosted by participating artists as follows: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. 
Free and open to everyone.
