American chair design from the early 19th century to the present day. Through May 5.

The Art of Seating: Two Hundred Years of American Design organized by The Museum of Contemporary Art, Jacksonville, Florida, presents a survey of exceptional American chair design from the early 19th century to the present day. The chair is experienced not only as a functional item, but as sculptural in view—the chair as art. Each of the more than 40 chairs in the exhibition was chosen for its beauty and historical context with important social, economic, political and cultural influences. Selections from the Jacobsen Collection of American Art are joined by contemporary designs offering a stylistic journey in furniture with showstoppers by John Henry Belter, George Hunzinger, Herter Brothers, Stickley Brothers, Frank Lloyd Wright, Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen, Isamu Noguchi, and Frank Gehry, among others.

Saturday February 9, 2019
7:00 PM - 12:00 AM

2nd Saturday Yardley Hosts First Chocolate Crawl and Gift Basket Contest as Part of it’s
Annual #LoveYardley Event on February 9th from 8AM-Midnight.

Downtown Yardley will be hosting its first-ever Chocolate Crawl, sponsored by local fine chocolatier Le
Saint French Chocolate, as part of its #LoveYardley-themed 2nd Saturday event on February 9th. People
will be able to sample chocolaty treats and order special chocolate desserts and drinks, work off their
sweets in fitness classes, view art and fashion with a chocolate theme and take advantage of an array of
specials in 15 different downtown businesses.
Along the way, people can also enter to win a #LoveYardley gift basket sponsored by Makefield Agency
and participating businesses that will be awarded just before Valentine’s Day. The winner will receive a
Yardley-themed basket that will include gift certificates and more from Vault Brewing Co., Express Nails,
Burritos, Cramer’s Bakery, Canal St. Grille, Appletini Photography, Spa on Main, Yardley General, Ye
Olde Yardley Florist, and Witt Pilates.

“2nd Saturday is one of our favorite events because it brings our neighbors out to see downtown Yardley’s
businesses,” Nancy Allen, owner of Touchstone Gallery and Secretary of Experience Yardley said. “And
right now is the time of year where hibernating is so tempting, so this is a good reason to get out and have
some fun!”

The free event is happening on February 9th from 8:00AM to Midnight in Downtown Yardley, with
businesses hosting a variety of experiences at different times during the day. These range from chocolate
tastings and wine/champagne pairings, meet the artist receptions, baked treat samples, special chocolate
desserts and drinks in restaurants, free exercise classes to burn off all of the chocolate, and sales and
special offers. Merchants are preparing to delight those who come out with the treats and/or in-store
specials and activities. The full schedule of the #LoveYardley 2nd Saturday Yardley event and the
Chocolate Crawl can be found at 2ndSaturdayYardley on Facebook as well as on posters all over
downtown Yardley.

2nd Saturday Yardley, run by Experience Yardley, started in November 2017 and has occurred every
month since then. “Particularly in the winter, it’s a fun reason for people to get out of the house and
connect with others in the community,” Jef Buehler, President of Experience Yardley said. “It really
showcases what our independent businesses downtown have to offer, provides some great activities and
deals for shoppers and visitors, and allows the greater Yardley community to meet and greet their local
business owners.”
“It’s such a positive thing for all the businesses downtown,” Jane Knox, owner of the Spa on Main shared.
“Folks are looking forward to it. We are excited to welcome groups of friends, couples, and families who
go from shop to shop and then support our local restaurants. I think this is a great way to bring folks back
into our unique businesses after the holidays. And of course we’ll be having some incredible Le Saint
French Chocolate to try!”

The participating businesses for 2nd Saturday Yardley on February 9th are: Appletini Photography,
Burritos, Canal St. Grille, Continental Tavern, Cramer’s Bakery, Express Nails, Giana Rose Couture,
Grist Mill Fitness, Makefield Agency, Spa on Main, Touchstone Gallery, Witt Pilates, Vault Brewing Co.,
Yardley General, and Ye Olde Yardley Florist.
