Friday February 22, 2019
7:30 PM - 9:00 PM

As a tribute to its historic past, the Newtown Theatre will screen “The Earth Stood Still” on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 – exactly 67 years to the day when it screened it in 1952.

Thanks to support from Newtown attorney Alice Hart Hughes, admission to the film is only 48 cents, roughly what it would have cost in 1952. Attendees are encouraged to dress in 1950s clothing and enjoy space-themed cocktails at the theatre before the film.

Considered a trail-blazing science fiction movie, “The Day the Earth Stood Still” involves a humanoid alien visitor named Klaatu who comes to Earth, accompanied by a powerful eight-foot tall robot, Gort, to deliver an important message that will affect the entire human race.

The theatre is located at 120 N. State Street in Newtown Borough
