Saturday December 15, 2018
4:00 PM

Come to the Old Library by Lake Afton to meet Santa’s sister, Auntie Claus, and welcome Yardley’s new little Christmas tree growing in its place of honor on the Lake’s shore.

The Yardley Historical Association will host two days of festivities. On Saturday, December 15, Auntie Claus will be visiting from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by a tree lighting at 6:15.

The Old Library will be decked out in its holiday best to greet Auntie Claus, who will be coming to Yardley from her penthouse in the Bing Cherry Hotel in New York City. She will tell young and old about her adventures in New York and the North Pole and give out her special presents because she truly believes that it is better to give than receive.

Her guests can see a tall fir tree decorated Auntie Claus-style and enjoy mulled cider and cookies.  “Yardley” gifts – tea towels, books, notepaper, ornaments, and prints – will be on sale to benefit the maintenance of the Old Library.  At 6:15 p.m., Auntie Claus will do the honors of making the new little Christmas tree sparkle for the first time.  Her guests are welcome to bring along a “1st” ornament to decorate the tree.

Proceeds will benefit the Historical Association’s efforts to maintain the Victorian library building and its collections of books, documents, and ephemera related to Yardley’s history.

For more information about the Association’s activities, please visit www.yardleyhistory.org, e-mail info@yardleyhistory.org  or call 215-369-1479.

Nov 30-Dec 16, 2018

It's Christmas time in the year 1183, and King Henry has gathered his rebellious queen and his warring sons to discuss who will be the next king. Henry's young mistress and the king of France are there, too. What can go wrong? The tone is comedic but the stakes are dead serious.
