Introduction to Beekeeping, Snipes Farm and Education Center

Come to the Farm House at Snipes Farm for bee keeping class with Paul Scutt. Paul brings 25 years of experience to this introductory course for people considering keeping their own bees. The class will cover the basic principles of bees:their physiology, the sociology of a hive, hive construction and inspection and harvesting honey. Weather permittingthere will be a walk to the hives on the farm. Refreshments will be served afterwards. $20 per person.

Easter is coming, and so are Mr. and Mrs. Bunny!! Come out March 24th and 25th (weather permitting), to go on a hayride and Easter egg hunt with them. Children get to make their very own Bunny Bag to collect their eggs in. Come in the morning at 9am or 10am to sit down and have breakfast with Mr. & Mrs. Bunny. Mr. & Mrs. Bunny will also be at the Farm Saturday, March 31st (weather permitting).

Come enjoy a delicious breakfast with Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny! Breakfast includes fresh pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee, and our Apple Cider Donuts. The above prices include the breakfast, craft bunny bag, and hayride around the farm with an egghunt. There will be a seating at 9, and another at 10, followed by a hayride around our farm (see the description above). Breakfast with the Easter Bunny is $7 for adults or $9 for children

Enjoy an entertaining show and balloon art with walk around magic. Then get ready for an outdoor "egg venture" following clues to find the Bunny, along with lots of help from local business friends. There may be some surprises along the way, so don't forget your Easter baskets or a shopping bag. Friends of the Delaware Canal Annual Spring Lunch and Walk

Join the Friends of the Delaware Canal on Saturday, March 24 for their annual spring Lunch and Walk.  The 5.75-mile long guided tour will explore the most northern reaches of the Canal with a stop for a gourmet pizza lunch at Sette Luna in the City of Easton. The walk will begin at 10 a.m. at Wy-Hit-Tuk Park.  The entrance drive is located at 575 South Delaware Drive (Route 611), Easton, PA 18042.  

Walkers will begin their adventure with a glimpse of the scenic “Monet” bridge and then follow the towpath northward as it hugs the Delaware River to the Forks of the Delaware.  At the Forks, the Lehigh River flows into the Delaware River and feeds the Delaware Canal.  Learn  about the Lehigh River dam and why a fish ladder was built at this location.  The Canal bypass, guard lock, wicket shanty and weigh lock will all be on view, as well as the stone arch opening to the Morris Canal in New Jersey.       

From the Forks, hikers will cross the bridge into Easton and head into town for a gourmet lunch at Sette Luna.  The menu will include Caesar salad and a generous variety of gourmet pizzas and beverages. After lunch, hikers will head back to Wy-Hit-Tuk Park, enjoying homemade cookies along the way.  

A donation of $25 is requested, and reservations are required.  Please call 215-862-2021 or email friends@fodc.org no later than March 17.  If the weather is uncooperative, participants will not be walking, but will meet at Sette Luna at noon for lunch and conversation.
