Independent Documentary Night at the Newtown Theatre- Full Schedule

The historic Newtown Theatre will host its next Independent Documentary Night on Sunday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m. The night will feature eight varied and thought-provoking documentaries from around the country. 

Admission is $5 at the door and free for theatre members. Beer, wine and concessions will be available for sale. Featured documentaries include: 

Tale of Two Mothers. When Jamie Diamond bought a discarded German family photo album from 1938, she didn’t expect to make art with it. But upon bringing a child into America, she began to notice uncanny parallels, and set out to recreate the original snapshots with her own son.

Mr. Ji. Follow the exploits of Mr. Ji, a wheelchair-bound dog as eccentric as the New York City neighborhood he lives in. As Mr. Ji and his human companion navigate the streets of the East Village, they share sweet moments with the people they meet. 

The Hardest Day in Maine. Follow along on the demanding 2018 Maine Summer Adventure Race, a 24-hour outdoor endurance race held annually in the Midcoast region.

Public Action to Delivery Shelter. A glimpse into an organization that strives to help the most vulnerable of our society. 

Halal. This short film shows the lives of the Muslim population in Buffalo by exploring a simple question: What is Halal?

Era of Sierra. Follow 19-year-old Sarah Stelloh (aka Evil Sierra) as she works to become a five-time Brew City Wresting Women's Champion.

Trap Fishing. Get up close and personal with one of the last remaining trap fishing families in Rhode Island. Meet Corey Wheeler Forrest, her father Alan Wheeler, and brother Luke Wheeler. Learn the art of trap fishing and what it takes to make a living on the water.

Geronimo. The interwoven stories of two women who seek change in their lives through aerial acrobatics and circus arts.
