Grundy Library selected to participate as a NASA@ My Library Partner

Bristol Borough PA - The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library has been chosen to be a part of the NASA@ My Library STEM education initiative to promote STEM learning opportunities throughout the nation. Seventy-five U.S. public libraries were selected through a competitive application process to become NASA@ My Library Partners receiving resources, training and support valued at $2,000 to lead STEM educational events in their communities. From a pool of 500 applicants from across the country, the Grundy Library was one of only three institutions from Pennsylvania to be selected. The 75 libraries will participate in the 18-month project (Phase 1), with an opportunity to extend for an additional two-year period (Phase 2) through 2020. Participating libraries will hold free public programs that engage various age groups and introduce a variety of STEM topics utilizing the NASA STEM Facilitation Kits, NASA educational resources and/or NASA subject matter experts. Upcoming NASA@ My Library events at the Grundy Library include Space Camp (July 11-August 1) for school age children; What is an Eclipse?, in partnership with the Bucks-Mont Astronomical Association (August 5); and the August 21 Eclipse Viewing Party. Event details can be found at www.grundylibrary.org, or by calling the Library at 215.788.7891.

The project is offered by the National Center for Interactive Learning (NCIL) at the Space Science Institute (SSI) in partnership with the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office, the Pacific Science Center, Cornerstones of Science and the Education Development Center. Support comes from NASA's Science Mission Directorate.
